Estate Planning Attorneys With Experience

Emert | Yeom Law is a law firm that provides a range of legal services, including estate planning. Estate planning or legacy planning is a crucial process that involves making plans for the transfer of your assets after your death. Our attorneys understand the importance of this kind of planning, and we strive to provide our clients with customized solutions that meet their unique needs and goals.

Our team of experienced attorneys can assist you with all aspects of estate planning, from drafting wills and trusts to handling probate and estate litigation matters. We can also provide guidance on tax planning and asset protection, as well as represent you in any legal disputes that may arise.

If you are considering an estate plan, we help Georgia families craft the elements of a foundational estate plan and probate estates, including:

  • Thorough creation of wills
  • Advance directives for healthcare
  • Financial powers of attorney
  • Selective trusts as needed for your situation
  • Navigating the complexities of the probate process in the wake of a loved one’s death

A well-designed plan often also incorporates asset protection planning, strategic tax planning, complex estate planning for divorced or blended families, protection for retirement plans, and other components tailored to your circumstances.

Benefits of Estate Planning

While it may not be a topic that people like to think about, estate planning is a crucial process that provides numerous benefits. Below are some of the key benefits of estate planning.

Control of Asset Distribution

One of the primary benefits of estate planning is that it allows you to control how your assets are distributed after your death. Without an estate plan, your assets will be distributed according to state law, which may not align with your wishes. By creating an estate plan, you can ensure that your assets are distributed to your chosen beneficiaries in the way that you see fit.

Minimizes Estate Taxes

Estate planning can help minimize estate taxes and other expenses. Our attorneys can provide guidance on tax planning strategies, such as setting up trusts or making charitable donations, that can help reduce your tax burden.

Avoids Probate

Probate is the legal process of administering a deceased person’s estate. It can be a time-consuming and expensive process that ties up your assets in court. By creating an estate plan, you can avoid probate altogether or simplify the process, saving your loved one’s time and money.

Protects Your Loved Ones

Estate planning can provide protection for your loved ones, particularly if you have minor children or family members with special needs. You can name a guardian for your children, create a trust to provide for their financial needs, and ensure that your loved ones are taken care of according to your wishes.

Provides Peace of Mind

Estate planning provides peace of mind, knowing that your assets and loved ones will be taken care of after your death. It can also alleviate the burden on your loved ones, who may be left with difficult decisions and legal issues to resolve if you do not have an estate plan in place.

Compassionate and Supportive Legal Guidance

At Emert | Yeom Law, we understand that estate planning can be a sensitive and emotional process. We strive to provide compassionate and supportive legal guidance, and we will work closely with you to ensure that your wishes are honored and that your loved ones are protected.

We invest time in getting to know potential clients before they pay any fees. Our planning services are accessible due to agreed-upon flat fees. To provide optimal service, we work to understand your needs and explain what options can achieve your goals.

Estate planning is not death planning, it’s life planning. Planning is critical for every parent, spouse, business owner, professional or individual concerned about responsibly providing for the future.

Our 3-Step Process With Estate Planning

Step One: Designing Your Plan

The first step in nearly every estate plan is our free initial planning session. During this meeting, we get to know you more and ask you important questions in order to determine the estate plans that make the most sense for your situation.

Step Two: Committing To Your Proposed Estate Plan

A few weeks after your initial consultation will be the signing meeting. In this meeting, we will review, make any changes or corrections, and then finalize your estate plan.

Our goal is to make sure we have achieved all your goals and you are comfortable with your planning decisions and the structure and function of your plan. If you have decided on a trust-based estate plan, we will begin to discuss how the funding process works.

Step Three: Funding Your Trust (Trust Plans Only)

The final step which is optional for people who have chosen a trust-based plan and have retained us for funding assistance, is to have the funding meeting. Here, we will work with you to take the steps necessary to design and fund the trust.
